Enterprise Radio celebrates Global entrepreneurship week

On tuesday, 17th November enterprise radio threw her doors open for an open mic session with entrepreneurs. The theme for the event was "building entrepreneurs through information". Those in attendance got a chance to experience the live productions, meet with and take #selfies (you know we love selfies) with the OAPs as well as network with other business owners and aspiring business owners.

The event was to celebrate the global entrepreneurship week, an awareness campaign to sensitize people across the world about entrepreneurship as well as get everyone talking about entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship related issues.

The session opened with an address by Kehinde Adegbulugbe followed by a brief summary of the mission and vision of the station by Kehinde John Olagbenjo (we are a Kehindefull studio, lol).

+Samuel B. Obafemi , Business coach, behavioral change expert and Strategist launched the open mic session with insightful lessons on how to structure your business. First thing he pointed out was how important emotional mastery is, you must know yourself before you can start to serve others, which is what business is really about.

Some of the key points highlighted were

- Document your processes
- Map out your Communication Strategy (how you relate with your customers)
- Ensure all employees are aware of the office culture

Other businesses that participated in the Open Mic Session were, Sanguine Spa, Hurlars kitchen, Ogolicieux cakes and Mr. Olufeso Oladehinbo, a farmer/farm consultant who came in from Odogbolu for the event.

Start where you are..... It's practice #strikedanvil

Hi everyone, "E kuu valentine" (a yoruba phrase that is used to greet people for almost anything, e kuu subsidy, e kuu j'oko, e kuu dide etc). Hehe. But seriously, how did the day go? Especially for those of you who thought INEC had saved you, only for them to pull the plug on your perfect excuse! hahaha. +Trezorlandia got loads of last minute panic calls a few days to d-day. 

The enterprise radio app has been down for a couple of days and I have been biting my fingernails, waiting and hoping +Abiodun Oyetunji our IT guru gets it sorted before the next show. I checked in on the app this morning and voila! It was working. Glooowray!! (Glory with an attitude) hehe. It can be quite discouraging when you feel like you are just talking into thin air... which brings me to one great meme I saw recently, in fact two;

First one is of Ed Sheeran; 

 You do know +Ed Sheeran and how huge he is now. His song #thinkingoutloud is smoking hot and has been named one of the greatest love songs of all time. If you haven't heard the song, you gotta listen here;

Who would have thought he started out with really humble beginnings.

The second picture below reminds me of something I heard +Asa OfficialMusic say in an interview she gave some time ago. She said, her mentor told her to always perform with all of her heart and might (para-phrased), that even if it was one person in the room, she should perform like she would for a hall filled with people. 

Running my show, knowing the app was down was kind'a close but not as close and I was almost discouraged, so imagine how it would be performing in a large auditorium to a handful of people. The thing though, is to never stop, just keep going, worst case you would have got good practice.

This week on #strikedanvil we will be discussing humble beginnings under the fancy title "start where you are". Many times we don't do anything because we are waiting for the hall to get full, or the money we're saving for that big office to get complete and so on. Guess what, that perfect moment most likely will never come. How about you start now, in your father's backyard.

Betiku kolawole a graduate of chemical engineering (best believe when I say engineers are the bestest!! hehe) from the prestigious university of Lagos. He is a certified negotiation specialist, (TNSB, Usa), a partner at Ekinalok Company and also doubles as head of business innovations and strategy development. 

He is a dynamic young man with a positive mindset towards achieving landmarks. A native of Ondo state, a relationship coach and founder of an empowerment scheme called CHANCE. Kolawole has always been an entrepreneur since he graduated from the university. He has successfully developed winning strategies by consulting for international and local brands.

Kola has vast experience working with young students to develop their entrepreneurial skill sets and make a living even while in school. We will be talking about this and his experience with helping students start from where they are.

I woke up this morning to find this huge annoying zit close to my forehead, eeek! I wish there was something I could use to blast it away. Mscheew.

Scenario 1
A small company gets an LPO to supply goods to a big company after presenting samples and getting selected. In the course of communication by mail, phone and face to face, the goods are delivered as per the LPO but with a few adjustments. However things get awry as the MD is not happy with the final result. Tempers flare and small company ends up with a threat of litigation for breach of contract if the advance is not paid back within a week! yawa

Scenario 2
A hall manager's friend calls him up to contract the hall for a week long program. They discuss discounts and agree prices. A deposit is made and the program sets off. One or two things go wrong with the service and as friends, they trash it out over the phone and the hall manager offers apologies. Oya Ogbeni, pay my balance now! Mr. Friend brings up issues Mr. hall manager thought were resolved and slams them a lawsuit for inconveniences caused, requesting for damages sef!. Lobatan

Scenario 3
NYSC graduate has an idea and approaches a money bag to invest in his idea. After series of rigorous analyses and reviews, he's told the idea cannot fly. A month later who turns up on the radio talking about the next best thing....... you guessed right! Money bag's nephew. Yeepa

Scenario 4
Yemi has an idea and calls up his friend Jackson. They are both excited and run with the idea. After years of sweat and hard work, Jackson gives up and moves on to other things while Yemi sticks with the idea, putting in all he's got. With determination and endurance, Yemi finally gets a big break and guess who shows up demanding for a piece of the pie...... uhuh! But how naaa.

These are real life scenarios that different people trying to make an honest living face every other day. How does one protect his business or himself from such scenarios? How does one deal with such issues when they find themselves in these situations?

+Matilda Otulana is the CEO, Serenpidity Legal Concerns. She is a Lawyer, biker (yes! isn't that just cool) and entrepreneur with experience in banking and corporate legal practice. She will be joining us tomorrow to give practical tips and advice on avoiding or handling issues such as these. Shine your eye! (I couldn't resist throwing that in, hehe)
